The Society of Business Economists has six hundred and fifty members of which there are only three in the North West. The NWDA regional model is run by Cambridge Econometrics and the Greater Manchester Model is developed by Oxford Economics. There is a wealth of talent here in Manchester we want to pull together to create a strong business economics group leading to the creation of the Greater Manchester Shadow Monetary Policy Committee later this year with our own forecasting suite of models.

Next week on the 16th June, Erik Britton from Fathom Consulting will be a guest at a private lunch with the newly created BEG’s group. Erik has worked on the Bank of England forecasting model and is the man who developed the fan chart for inclusion in the BOE inflation report. John England from the Bank of England will also be in attendance.
