Appleyard Lees on Recruitment Drive At a time when many competitors are scaling back, Appleyard Lees is continuing to recruit at all levels, to ensure that it can maintain its excellent reputation for client service. During 2011, the firm has invested in a number of new staff in addition to internal promotions. The Trade Mark team saw the arrival of Heather Williams and Dorothea Thompson. Heather, an associate based in the Leeds office, trained as a Trading Standards Enforcement Office and gained invaluable experience in the field of anti-counterfeiting. Dorothea, an assistant based in the Halifax office, has worked across the fields of journalism, publishing, music, marketing and retail and has a strong commercial awareness of branding and rights exploitation. The Chemical team welcomed James Myatt, an assistant in the Manchester office who worked as a medicinal chemist for GlaxoSmithKline and Chris Mason, an assistant in the Leeds office who is training to become a patent attorney. Assistant, Harrison Chang joined the Electronics team based in the Manchester office and Ritchie Daniel joined the Mechanical team in Halifax. Earlier this year, Jennifer Delaney became a partner whilst Andrew Fearnside, Paul Misselbrook and Philip French were promoted to senior associates. As well as the new technical staff, the firm recruited Sara Baines, a marketing and business development manager in January 2011 to help develop and maintain the marketing strategy. To further support their growth, The Manchester office is moving to new premises at The Lexicon on Mount Street in 2012.
