BBC NORTH AND INNOVATIVE MANCHESTER – A WINNING COMBINATION

MANCHESTER’S financial and professional services industry will have an important part to play in the BBC’s move to the North.

Speaking at Thursday's pro.manchester MediaCityUK lunch, Peter Salmon, director of BBC North, told members there were opportunities for Manchester businesses to partner with the BBC.

Focusing on the North’s reputation as ‘the home of digital companies’, Salmon said the BBC would support the growth of Manchester’s digital companies.

He added: “An objective of the BBC is to facilitate and create opportunities. There is a huge appetite to work for the BBC and we can only become stronger if we bring new blood into the organisation.”

Peter spoke of how the BBC has already been inspired by how innovative professionals in Manchester are and  is committed to helping to drive this innovation even further.

He is confident Manchester will ‘grow from an acorn into a great digital tree’.
Peter ended by assuring attendees the BBC would continue to support, encourage and celebrate Manchester business.
