North West Businesses go Break to Beak in the Manchester Duck Race Businesses will sponsor one-foot high, stylish, black rubber ducks branded with The Avenue lettering, for £150 plus VAT with all the proceeds going to children’s charity Brainwave, which helps children with brain injuries benefit from home based physical and cognitive play. The corporate duck race will take place on Good Friday (22nd April) at 2pm when 150 giant ducks will race down the River Irwell between Albert Bridge and Irwell St Bridge. Companies can brand up or design their ducks to be in with a chance to win the ‘Designer Duck’ prize, celebrating the opening of The Avenue, Manchester luxury retail quarter. The prize is a private screening for the whole office at this year’s Screenfields. Prizes will also be up for grabs for the fastest five ducks to cross the finish line at Irwell St Bridge. Companies can be in with a chance to win a team night out for 30 people at The Slug and Lettuce, 5 shirts from TM Lewin, a team lunch for 30 from Greggs or a dozen personalised cupcakes courtesy of Hey Little Cupcake. Corporate Duck sponsors so far include Carbon Consulting Company, Gatszu, Grant Thorton, and Kids Allowed. Fran Goddard, Head of Communications and Events said, “We felt that a corporate duck race was a great way to engage with the North West business community and get them involved with Brainwave. There are some great prizes up for grabs and The Avenue branding on the ducks make them really original so I am looking forward to seeing what kind of designs the companies come up with.” For more information or to enter this year’s Manchester Duck Race email feedback@spinningfields.co.uk.
