Jeremy is new face of R3 in the North West
R3, the trade body for insolvency practitioners, has a new figure at the helm of its North West operation. Jeremy Oddie, who is head of Corporate Recovery and Insolvency at accountants Mitchell Charlesworth in Manchester, has been appointed as regional chair. He replaces Matt Dunham who has stepped down after two years but will continue to play a role on the North West committee. Jeremy has over 25 years experience in insolvency and worked for accountancy practices including PKF, KPMG and Baker Tilly before joining Mitchell Charlesworth in 2000. He has expertise in both personal and corporate insolvency. Meanwhile Richard Wolff, partner and head of Corporate Recovery and Insolvency at JMW Solicitors LLP, a leading Manchester-based law firm, has taken on the new position of vice-chair. Originally from London, he moved to Manchester in 1997 to work with DAC and more recently was a partner at Halliwells before leaving to set up JMW’s insolvency department at the start of 2009. Jeremy Oddie said: “I would like to thank Matt Dunham for his hard work in promoting the profession over the past two years. We will continue to build on his achievements and to raise awareness of insolvency issues and the solutions available. “The work of R3 members has never been more relevant than it is today. As insolvency practitioners, they deal directly with the fall-out from the economic crisis. During the downturn our members have saved thousands of businesses and jobs and helped numerous individuals in financial distress. With debt problems still working their way through the system, they will continue to play an important role in the run-up to recovery.” Richard Wolff added: “Many companies in the North West which have survived the period of technical recession have seen their resources and cash flow depleted and we fear that this, together with any rise in interest rates and other factors, could lead to a rise in the number of administrations and liquidations in the year ahead. Companies facing financial difficulty should be aware that there is a wealth of expertise to help them. The majority of businesses which call in insolvency practitioners and specialist legal advisors do survive - the most important thing is to get professional help at an early stage.” R3 is the UK’s leading trade association for insolvency, business recovery and turnaround specialists. It promotes best practice for professionals working with financially troubled individuals and businesses, provides a forum for debate and campaigns on insolvency issues.
