Manchester Green Investment Bank team confident of City’s chances

The team behind Manchester’s Green Investment Bank campaign has reaffirmed its confidence in bringing the UK’s first low carbon fund to the city.

Spearheaded by John Ashcroft, chief executive at Pro Manchester, the team believes that Manchester’s reputation as a Northern hub and its ability to keep attracting big name players from green and financial markets in the city mean it’s perfectly placed to land the Green Investment Bank.

It’s another show of confidence from the team, who this week unveiled a shortlist of sites where they see the bank being located.

John Ashcroft explained: “Manchester truly is the Northern hub for professional institutions. The city has the ideal commercial context for the Green Investment Bank and we intend to make a series of announcements to demonstrate how our proposal will work within it.”
