Manchester hosts Business of Women’s Sport breakfast event this Friday

The commercial viability of women’s professional sport in the UK will be the topic of discussion when a panel of leading female figures in sport join forces at ‘The Business of Women’s Sport’, an intimate breakfast event at Manchester’s Hilton at Deansgate this Friday from 8.30am.

Hosted by the Women’s Sport & Fitness Foundation (WSFF), the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and Marketing Manchester, attendees will  hear from a panel of leading opinion formers in women’s sport, including:
• Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, 11-time Paralympic champion, House of Lords peer
• Kelly Simmons, Head of National Game, the FA
• Mary Brock, Co-owner, WNBA’s Atlanta Dream
• Sue Tibballs, CEO, WSFF

Moderated by the BBC’s Tanya Arnold, a lively debate and audience Q&A will focus on the question “can women’s sport generate enough profile to become a commercial success in the UK?”

The WSFF, WNBA and Marketing Manchester would like to extend an invitation to the breakfast event to Manchester’s wider business community. All interested in attending should RSVP to rsvp@marketingmanchester.com.

This event is part of the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) multi-year commitment to bring the world’s best men’s and women’s basketball action to Manchester, beginning with the WNBA’s first-ever game in Europe this Sunday (5pm) at the MEN Arena – Atlanta Dream vs. Team GB women. Tickets are still available from www.men-arena.com, www.ticketmaster.co.uk or 0844 847 8000.
