Manchester to put best foot forward SIR Howard Bernstein used Thursday's pro.manchesters lunch to announce Greater Manchester has been confirmed as one of the 24 local enterprise partnerships (LEPs) to be launched in the UK. LEPs will be partnerships between councils and local businesses formed to stimulate private-sector growth.Sir Howard believes Manchester is the well-placed to show the rest of the country how these new private and public sector partnerships will work. Fresh from a meeting with deputy prime minster Nick Clegg, Sir Howard made his address at the Lowry Hotel and outlined both the challenges and opportunities facing Manchester businesses. Sir Howard urged the business leaders of Manchester to put their ‘best foot forward’ and to make full use of the innovative people of Manchester and their skills set to help the region continue to grow and be successful. This was the 12th consecutive year Sir Howard has addressed the members of pro.manchester. |
