MMU opportunity for Graduate Internships
MMU has recently won an award from HEFCE to help unemployed graduates into work which allows MMU to allocate £1000 towards the costs of employing a graduate. The company should be prepared to fully match the £1000 (eg. self-declared in terms of wage, resources, training ) and must employ the graduate for at least 4 weeks.
MMU Eligibility criteria: 1. Provision of at least a 4 week paid internship per graduate at minimum wage . 2. Aimed at unemployed graduates with the intention of gaining valuable work experience and/or a full time position. 3. The priority employer sectors that we can support are set out in detail in the Government’s strategy document 'Building Britain’s Future – New Industry, New Jobs'. These are businesses of any employee size in the following sectors: low-carbon products and services digital industry life sciences and pharmaceuticals advanced manufacturing professional and financial services engineering construction industrial opportunities presented by the ageing society. The Government is also committed to supporting ALL small businesses (less than 50 employees), in conjunction with the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). 4. All internships must be agreed by end of August 2010 (but can commence slightly later) 5. All internships must adhere to MMU standard code of practice for placements (which will be circulated with any allocation of funds)
What MMU will provide:
£1000 direct to the company sent electronically via BACS direct from MMU on receipt of appropriate documentation. MMU will provide the electronic documentation for the company and MMU departments to fill in. Marketing & Graduate preparation support MMU has a specific graduate employability programme called “Talent Plus” (www.mmu.ac.uk/talentplus) which can help both in attracting graduates to the scheme but also offers a free, intensive work preparation scheme (7 days) which can help a graduate with their employability skills.
