pro·manchester gets creative
pro·manchester got creative in 2010 with the launch of creative pro·manchestera programme of activity focused on bringing together the financial and professional sector with the Digital, Creative and Media sectors in Greater Manchester with the aim of opening new business opportunities for pro·manchester members.
Members of pro·manchester came together to form the creative pro.manchester group, chaired by Steve Kuncewicz, HBJ Gateley Wareing the group includes Lauren Liles, Montpelier Chartered Accountants; Peter Davies, RMS PR; David Hunt, Creative Lynx; Paul Taylor, Vision & Media; Paul Carruthers, Journey9; Laura Harper, Ward Hadaway; Kerry Dennison, Studio North and Kirsty Shenton, DWF.
The group have worked together throughout 2010 to put together a programme of activity which launched with Earning a Buck in the Digital Age in connection with Manchester Digital, debating the issues affecting both digital agencies and professional and financial firms, with an expert panel made of up online marketers, web developers, innovators, lawyers and business psychologists a healthy debate was had on a number of topics including why professional services don’t have the budget for digital agencies and the Digital Age vs Intellectual Property. The second in the series was around how accounting and financial professionals can help small, young digital businesses avoid the pitfalls as they grow and how the professional sector can learn from the new digital business culture.
Creative pro·manchester also welcomed Direct General BBC North Peter Salmon speaking about the BBC’s move to MediaCityUK and hosted a round table event chaired by Insider Editor Michael Taylor which discussed. The Pitching Professionally Challenge was also held by Creative pro.manchester this year, the challenge was shaped to give a boost to Manchester’s developing digital start ups and help them improve their pitching skills to help them win business. 2010 was rounded off with a tour of MediaCityUK.
Creative pro·manchester will be continuing its programme of activity throughout 2011 continuing to help the two sectors to engage and understand each other better, the Earning a Buck series looks set to continue with a whole host of other ideas in the pipeline.
