pro·manchester to be Gateway for Businesses in the North says Chairman
Maintaining Manchester’s second city status and connecting with corporates were top of the agenda on Tuesday evening as pro·manchester Chairman Paul Lupton addressed over 250 members at the annual Chairman’s Reception.
Mr Lupton who took over in June as Chairman of the membership organisation spoke of the influence of pro·manchester in the growth of the sector in the past twenty five years. Manchester has over 70,000 professionals in the financial and professional services sector which is set to grow another 50,000 over the next decade which he said was in part due to the activities of pro·manchester.
“In an increasingly competitive and connected world, one organisation that speaks for the whole professional community and delivers a focused message on behalf of us all will be increasingly important in ensuring that not only does Manchester maintain it’s status as the UK’s second city, but that we widen the gap over the other regional centres”
Outlining his second objective Mr Lupton asked for more direct activity with corporates for the organisation with a view to generating more business for members and supporting the growth of Manchester. He added:
“The more relevant we are to our members, the more we support the growth of Manchester as a financial powerhouse. We need to make pro·manchester the gateway for businesses in the North”
Mr Lupton also used the opportunity to announce the return of pro·manchester's conference next year on 1st March re- named the pro·manchester Business Conference. He also hinted at the launch of the pro·manchester SME Club next week, a free model providing information and advice to a range of businesses.
