pro.manchester to lead final push for Green Investment Bank

John Ashcroft Chief Executive of membership organisation pro.manchester will lead a final push in Manchester’s bid to be the home of the Green Investment Bank. Working alongside Tim Newns of MIDAS and Mike Emmerich from economic development agency New Economy, together they will look to raise the profile of the city’s bid.

Speaking about the bid John Ashcroft said

“We believe the success of the Green Investment Bank is vital to the success of the transition to a low carbon economy, which is so vital to the future of our children, our children’s’ children and beyond. We applaud the Government’s commitment to a Green Future. We want the Green Investment Bank to succeed. We believe the best chance of success is here in Manchester.”

The Bank which will provide £3bn worth of finance to green technology schemes directly from government funds will be launched next April. With government committed to the promotion of green growth and a successful transition to a low carbon economy, the Green Investment Bank’s mission will be to accelerate private sector investment in the UK’s transition to a green economy.

pro.manchester which represents the financial and professional sector in Greater Manchester established it’s Energy and Low Carbon Group earlier this year within which high level professional advisors support the energy and renewables market.
