Review of The Year: Professional Innovator Challenge

This year’s Professional Innovator Challenge was bigger and better than ever with tougher challenges and a few surprises on the final evening too! The challenge which ran from October 2010 through to April 2011 is designed to identify true innovative talent in Manchester’s young talent via a series of written challenges posed by guest judges. For the first time this year the competition was also open to Manchester’s students with two prizes up for grabs for the Professional and Student winners.

The glittering awards evening in April saw dozens of entrants whittled down to a final six who were faced with one last surprise challenge.  Working in teams they were to come up with a new use for the trusty paper clip, a bout which saw the Student team announced the winners.

Overall winners were Paul Widger a forensic Accountant at Baker Tilly and Daniel Callan a student at The Oldham College.

The Professional Innovator Challenge returned in September 2011 and will run until March 2012 it is accompanied by a full programme of events all focused on the attributes needed to be innovative.  2012 will bring the beginning of the Challenge series as first challenges are released at the beginning of January.
