Salford Academy - Colliding with opportunities

Two of pro.manchester’s members were called upon to speak at a unique conference for 80 highly able 13/14 year olds, hosted by Salford Academy.

Academies have been built in some of the toughest inner-city neighbourhoods across the country, to replace poor performing and often crumbling schools.

The conference initiated a long-term one-to-one mentoring/coaching programme for students with successful people in business.

Mike Perls from MC2 and John Macaulay from The Alchemy Agency were invited talk about their entrepreneurial journeys to the young people from 12 Northern Academies.

The event targeted highly able students – high achievers that have the ability to get into Oxbridge or a Russell Group University. Mike and John delivered a talk, which enthused about the pros and cons of becoming an entrepreneur. The students were set a challenging ‘Apprentice Challenge’, producing an impressive array of ideas for new sports drink.

Jane Delfino MBE from Manchester Academy commented that the young people were inspired and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
