Strengthening links with the city

pro·manchester welcomed the Lord Mayor of the City of London to Manchester not once but twice during 2010,with both visits focused on strengthening business and economic ties between the City and Manchester.

In January the 682nd Lord Mayor Nick Anstee met with influential city figures and members of the ‘ Manchester Family of organisations’, took part in a regional round table with amongst other the NWDA, Bank of England, ICAEW and the London Stock Exchange  the event was designed to demonstrate the strength of the city region and Manchester’s role.  Nick Anstee introduced Manchester to The CityUK set up to promote all UK based financial services and commented that Manchester is a critically important part of the UK based financial and professional services offer. The visit was officially marked by a celebratory lunch at the Hilton Hotel.

LordMayorBreakfastThe 683rd Lord Mayor of The City of London Alderman Michael Bear visited Manchester in December he started his visit with a panel based discussion focusing on Skills, Enterprise and Education and hosted by future.pro·manchester where Manchester was hailed as an international centre for innovation. Alderman Bear also took part in a regional round table meeting key city figures before addressing pro·manchester members over lunch at the Midland Hotel with the clear message that Manchester is a city to be proud of.
